Welcome to the Gospel of the Kingdom University. Peace, love and all grace be multiplied unto you from God our Father and from our Lord Jesus Christ. I am Sister Joy, an ambassador of Christ. I represent the Kingdom of God in the earth. I am from Jamaica, an island in the Caribbean.
We will at this time, pray the students’ prayer which is taken from Eph.1:17-20. This passage was selected because although it should be prayed by all, it is most likely unknown to many. This was Paul’s prayer for the brethren in Ephesus. It has been modified to make it personal to us.
The Students' Prayer:
We pray, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of our understanding being enlightened; that we may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places. (Eph. 1:17-20).
Your Charge:
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Josh. 1:8).
I must now make it clear that I am not your teacher. Your teachers are God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. I am only your presenter and facilitator. My assignment essentially, is to bring the Scripture to your attention, especially as it relates to your salvation. To make the Scripture known where it is unknown and to remind those who may have forgotten. My mandate is not to persuade you about what you should or should not believe, but to present, facilitate, encourage and in the process, hopefully inspire.
Your decision is your own. Your salvation is your responsibility. God has already done His part in making the provisions for your redemption. The next step is yours. It is your duty to ascertain what your Creator requires of you and live accordingly. The Gospel of the Kingdom University provides for you the opportunity to engage in that process. Please do not let this opportunity be a missed or a wasted one!!
Recognizing God the Father as Teacher:
We tend not to see God the Father in the role of Teacher, but He in fact is. God is not only a Teacher, but He is also the first and greatest of all teachers. It is He Who is the origin and source of all wisdom, knowledge and understanding. (Prov. 2:6).
Let us now take a brief look at the Father as He engages in His teaching role.
God the Father is Jesus' Teacher. (John 8:28).
Adam and Eve were taught by God the Father. (Gen. 1-3).
It was God the Father Who taught Noah how to prepare for the flood. (Gen. 6-9).
It was God the Father Who taught Abraham His ways. (Gen. 26:5).
It was God the Father Who taught Moses His laws and commandments and instructed him to teach them to the children of Israel. (Ex. 24:12).
These are additional texts affirm the Father as Teacher.
“Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way”. (Ps. 25:8).
“The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way”. (Ps. 25:9).
“What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose”. (Ps.25:12).
“Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teachet h thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go”. (Isa. 48:17).
“It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me”. (John 6:45).
This was David's prayer to the Father:
“Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day”. (Ps. 25:4-5).
David did not rely on human teachers only to expound to him the way of salvation, but relied heavily on the Lord.
Recognizing Jesus Christ as Teacher:
Although Jesus performed many miracles, it is undeniable that teaching was a central part of his ministry.
“And [Jesus] seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying”. (Matt. 5:1-2).
“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people”. (Matt. 9:35).
“And it came to pass, that, as he [Jesus] was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth”. (Luke 11:1-2).
Recognizing the Holy Spirit as Teacher:
Before Jesus returned to heaven, he promised that the Father would send the Holy Spirit Who would not only indwell the believers but also be their Teacher.
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you”. (John 14:26).
Now you know, you don't have to rely only on human teachers for understanding of the Scriptures. You have the very best Teachers available to you. You can reach them at any time and you do not need to make appointments. They are only a thought away and they take immense pleasure in your seeking to know understand. “The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God”. (Ps. 14:2).
